Topics Covered

Introduction to TaxStream
This module is intended to give a general overview or the functionality and how to navigate through input and report screens in TaxStream. Manual entry of basic federal and state provision items and generating the resulting reports are addressed. The hands-on exercise has the participant create a provision in TaxStream.

State Issues
This module focuses on state provision concepts such as adjustments to the federal taxable income, actual vs. blended state rates and apportionment rates. The hands-on exercise expands on the earlier exercise by adding the state information to calculate a state provision for several states.

Reports for Preparers

Administrative Users
This module is designed for users who are responsible for creating and maintaining the category structure in TaxStream. The module will explain how to establish, modify and delete category items such as the master list of Datasets, Units, Permanent Differences, Temporary Differences, etc. The management of users, user passwords and assignment of user rights as well as the Audit Trail which monitors activity is covered.

Importing Spreadsheets
This module explains the use of the import spreadsheets as another way to populate TaxStream and minimize the manual input. The course discusses how the spreadsheets should be completed and how to import into TaxStream. The hands-on exercise asks the participant to create an import spreadsheet which is imported to populate a test dataset.

iTaxStream
This module gives an overview of the web based tax data collection tool. The interface is ideal for gathering information from multiple locations. Information entered in the interface automatically updates the database so the information is live once it is entered in the field. The input screens can be tailored and there is a questionnaire section that enables the collection of non-financial information. There is also the ability for multiple levels of sign-off as the tax packages are prepared and reviewed.

Deferred Tax Presentation Issues
This module is a study of the deferred tax rollforward report and is focused on the set-up and administration of this critical schedule. At the end of this session, the learner will understand the set-up of rollforward columns, multiple roll-ups, and federal benefit of state presentation issues. Also covered will be the effective tax rate rollup report.

Return to Provision
This module discusses the concept of the return to provision and explains the suggested methodology for representing the provision entries in TaxStream. Also covered is a macro that can assists in generating entries from TaxStream data.

Comprehensive Case Study
The comprehensive hands-on case study will guide the participant through all the materials covered in the first day of training. Learners will work at their own pace and will be allowed to take afternoon breaks as their timing of the work allows.
